The Institute of Certified Bookkeepers recently completed their 2021 annual bookkeeping survey. A key focus of the survey is to determine average charge-out rates by bookkeepers around the country.
The survey reports on rates for both routine bookkeeping and high-end services. In 2021 most bookkeepers were charging between $61 and $70 per hour (excluding GST) for routine bookkeeping services . All Sorted's rates for routine bookkeeping services were below this rate.
In 2018 most bookkeepers were charging between $101 and $150 per hour for high-end bookkeeping, management accounting and consulting services. Rates for these services for All Sorted clients were once again in line with industry norms.
The survey found that most BAS/Agents continue to charge a higher rate for BAS services than they do for routine bookkeeping. The average rate for BAS services in 2021 was in the $71-$80 range. All Sorted charge clients our standard bookkeeping rate for BAS services, which is well below this range.
