The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) has implemented a mandatory client verification process for all tax practitioners.
From the 1st of July, we are required to verify the identity of all new and existing clients, who have not previously been formally identified. This check needs to be completed prior to us engaging with the ATO on your behalf.
Soon after you have signed this year's annual agreement you will receive an email with a link to our automated ID checking App (Scantek). If you could complete the ID check as soon as possible, this will ensure not disruption to your bookkeeping/BAS Agent service.
The process
The process is quick and easy and only takes a 1-2 minutes.
You will need to do the following:
- Have your Driver's license or Passport handy
- Scan your chosen ID
- Take a 'selfie' so that the system can compare your face to the ID that you provided
- That's it.
Once you perform the ID check, we will receive a notification message saying that you have been ID'd.
Security
We do not store and retain any of your ID documents and Scantek only stores your data for 7 days prior to deleting it.
